This project took place in an old cannonball factory in Zaandam.
Where the discovery of heavy locker doors with functional keys became a central inspiration. These sturdy objects, designed to be strong and secure, were rendered useless after a single act of interference—they were removed from their locker.
These photographs were taken around the factory and displayed through the building’s windows. These images interact with their environment in two ways: from the outside, they are forced to merge with reflections and the surrounding landscape. From the inside, they rely entirely on daylight to be visible, as there is no artificial light in or around the factory.
These “sleeping images” exist in a state of dependency, their visibility determined by uncontrollable factors such as time, light, and perspective.
